Parish & Neighborhood Groups

With two gorgeous churches and a Village Hall, the Heathcote-Mt Pleasant Parish can and does offer excellent facilities to host a variety of groups in our neighbourhood. Some of these groups are directly affiliated with the Church, and others are for the benefit of our communities and social groups in our corner of Christchurch. Below are some of the groups and their contacts for you and your family to get involved.

 

PARISH GROUPS

AAW: 3rd Tuesday of the month, 7:30pm service, 8pm mtg at the Church of Ascension.

The Association of Anglican Women is an organisation whose aim is to promote Christian family life. The group has an ecumenical flavour, and is open to any women in the district who are interested. Contact Pat on (03) 328-8182.

 

Study Groups: Meeting times vary.

Community Lunch: Please call for information.

Lunch is served for mainly older people living alone or who enjoy meeting up with friends. If you would like to join, contact Judy 0n 3841379.

 

NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS

Heathcote Valley Community Association: Last Wednesday of the month, 7:30-10pm at the Village Hall.

Mahjong Group: Tuesdays during Terms 2 & 3, 1-4pm at the Church of the Ascension.

This group of enthusiasts meets weekly to play Mahjong for social enjoyment. Anyone is welcome to join. Contact Robena Hewitt at (03) 384-9692.

Adult and Children’s Ballet Classes: Meet during terms at the Village Hall.

Adults and Children: 4-7:15pm Mondays
Children only: 3:30-6:30pm Thursdays or                             9am-Noon Saturdays

The Heathcote Valley Wool Craft Group: Thursdays, 9:15-11:45am at the Village Hall.

Twinkle Tots

Twinkle Tots: Twinkle Tots meets on Friday mornings from 10.30 am to 11.10 am at the Village Hall during school term times.

Twinkle Tots is a song and dance activity for pre-school children up to four years of age accompanied by a parent or care-giver. It is followed by a relaxed morning tea/coffee/water and a nibble. It is operated by the parish.

Pippins: Tuesdays during Terms, 4-5pm at the Village Hall.

Brownies: Tuesdays during Terms, 5:30-7:30pm at the Village Hall.

For 7-to-9½ year olds, Brownies is all about fun. For more information contact Heather, phone (03) 981-4887.

Rangers: Mondays during Terms, 6:30-9pm at the Village Hall.

These beautiful facilities are available for hire, either for a single event, or to host regular group meetings. To arrange for your own event or group, refer to the Facilities pages. All group meetings and events must be approved by the Vestry of the Anglican Parish of Heathcote-Mt Pleasant. The Parish may, at its own discretion, disallow use of the facilities by groups that it determines to be contrary to our mission of supporting God’s positive work in our community.
